Classy, chic and comforting. This is what embodies a Pan Am stewardess. The 2011 ABC series named Pan Am focuses on four young women in 1963, rebelling against the social norms of the time and establishing a new age of women: the Pan Am stewardess leading the movement.
Unfortunately, Pan Am only saw the light for one season, being cancelled at the end of its airing on ABC. Dubbed the “next Mad Men”, but not quite living up to its stylish predecessor, the show was dropped, to the shock of many fans.
The outstanding sets and costumes made this show extremely watchable and a fun flick for the women (and men) of the family to watch together.
Some memorable mentions:
Colette Veluoir, portrayed by Karine Venasse. |
Colette can be described as the best friend you could have. She is trustworthy, strong, non-judgemental, honest and sticks up for her believes. A French orphan, Colette can be sensitive and vulnerable, but is the most gracious of the four girls. This is shown in her fashion, which is mature and soft, with classic shapes and flowing lines.
Laura Cameron, portrayed by Margot Robbie. |
Naive, innocent, young, fragile, emotional, reckless. Laura is the walking heartbreaker, the blond bombshell, although is not aware of her beauty and influence. She often dresses in fresh, pastel colours, with fitting shapes that flatters her curvy, voluptuous figure.
Kate Cameron, portrayed by Kelli Garner. |
Kate is the ultimate warrior. She’s brave, intelligent, quick-witted and a hard-worker (not to mention, she works for the CIA). Kate’s red hair limits the number of flattering colours, but her beauty and skin tone work for her in every respect. Kate has quite a large bust, so her outfits are very flattering to her shape without showing off the goods too much. The above dress is one of my favourites from the show.
